I LOVE LIFE & I WANT TO LIVE! CAMPAIGN
This campaign was initiated in 1994 to save our youth from drugs, guns, violence, and murder. This annual campaign consists of four competitions: essay, poster, public speaking and song - including rap music. It is held in partnership with DC Public Schools (DCPS) annually and is open for all students enrolled in DCPS, grades 1 thru 12.

BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN
This campaign was initiated in 1993 in order to promote and increase parental involvement in their children's education. Cash prizes are awarded to DC Public Schools having the highest number of adults accompanying children to school on opening day. A rally is held annually at a DC Public School and begins with a symbolic community walk to the school which includes UBF Board Members, school faculty and staff, parents, students, DCPS representatives, community leaders and elected officials.

BLACK HISTORY INVITATIONAL SWIM MEET
This historic, two-day swim meet features swimmers from over 22 cities throughout the United States and the Virgin Islands. It also features promising minority swimmers and coaches monitored by the United States Olympic Committee. It is co-sponsored by the United Black Fund and the DC Department of Parks & Recreation. This event is designed to produce Olympic caliber champions, world record setters and coaches.

CORA E. RICE/ P.G. COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY
Every December, UBF co-sponsors an annual Christmas Party with the Prince George's County Police Department to distribute toys and other gifts to deserving youth in Prince George's County, Maryland.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
This program is held in partnership with local community leaders and organizations throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. It is designed to increase awareness of the presence of domestic violence in local communities and what strategies should be implemented to prevent and resolve it.

AGENCY LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE
This initiative features newly formed, 501(c)(3) tax exempt, community based organizations. Agencies in this group are given technical assistance to launch and manage their organizations. They also share an office suite at UBF's headquarters during an "incubation" period to manage, schedule organizational meetings and conduct day-to-day operations for their agency.
